after: ʻPIAZZA D'ITALIAʼ, Giorgio de Chirico - 1913, Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, Canada.
Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978) was born in Greece but spent most of his career in Germany, France and Italy. His early career reached a highpoint with his ʻmetaphysicalʼ paintings. De Chirico painted claustrophobic scenes depicting arcades and towers in the northern Italian city of Turin. The Surrealists found favour in his work with their own leanings.

after: ʻSAINT GEORGE AND THE DRAGONʼ, Paolo Uccello - 1427, National Gallery, London, England.
Paolo Uccello (1397-1475) was a Florentine painter of the early Renaissance. A childhood prodigy, he was best known for his mastery and experimentation in linear perspective, foreshortening and composition. His paintings contain complex compositions of battle scenes and pageants, often painted in a gothic style, and very different of the classic realism prevalent at that time.

after: ʻEVERYONE I HAVE EVER SLEPT WITH 1963-1995ʼ, Tracy Emin - 1995, destroyed in a fire.
Tracy Emin (born 1963) emerged as a so called Young British Artist (YBA) in the 1990ʼs with a series of autobiographical, object-based works that candidly express her personal emotions and life experiences in a tragic and often humorous manner. In ʻEveryone I have ever slept with 1963-1995ʼ, Emin inscribed the names of past lovers, friends and family on the inside of the tent, using an appliqué technique. The idea behind the work is that by crawling inside the small- enclosed space of the tent the viewer becomes intrinsically bound up and is witness to the artistʼs personal life.
