BERT VAN ZELM

I started to work with Uni Posca markers during travels. I was able to ‘paint’ while being on the road (even though I don’t think they are meant for being used like that). I made sketches for fun, letting my hand go anywhere without too much worries about style or whatever. Now I also use them during the in between moments while painting with oil or gouache. I copy faces I like and follow my instincts. I mix them with ink too.

I perfected my technique over the years. The new phase was that I used them for the 'Art Hysteria' series.

There function of working with this unusual material brought the interpretations of the different styles of art from the different time periods under a ‘unified flag’.

Special about these Art History sketches is that they are in 3D.
